Rule Breakers and Rule Makers

The Challenge

We’re looking for companies at the cutting edge of innovation that are looking to trial technologies that are currently blocked by UK regulations – or delayed by a lack of regulatory clarity.

So this challenge is for innovators, regulators, and regulatory innovators. If you know or think you know people or companies who want to make illegal things legal, nominate them to this challenge.

We’re working with our friends at Accelerate Estonia to help UK companies develop safe, scaleable innovations while gathering data and evidence to assist UK regulators in adapting regulation to support economic growth while maintaining protection for consumers and the public.

Accelerate Estonia’s Experimentation Framework supports UK-registered tech companies with testbeds for development of autonomous systems, novel healthcare capabilities, financial services, telecommunications and more. If you know of any that could benefit from such “regulatory sandboxes”, read on.

Solutions and Sharing

We’d love your help in finding great companies that want to change the rules. If you help us find companies that go on to work with Accelerate Estonia, we will share Estonia-themed rewards with you.

Specifically, we – and Accelerate Estonia – are looking for companies that have the following characteristics:

  • Clear Need for Regulatory Change: The solution must address a specific challenge that requires regulatory intervention from the Estonian public sector.
  • Scalability: The solution must have the potential to tackle significant global challenges and scale, which in turn generates economic opportunities for Estonia.
  • Fully Developed Concept: The product or service should be ready for piloting, not at an idea stage.
  • Operational business: The solution must be backed by a well-established and committed team.
  • Business Model Focus: We focus on B2B and B2C models, not B2G.

If you haven’t already, please become an Amitypather to help us spread the challenge to maximise our chances of success.

And if you think you know of a suitable company and would like to nominate or discuss it, join the discussion in our forum on WhatsApp – we’ll share the link once you’re aboard as an Amitypather.

Thank you!

Ben Brabyn
