Protecting Identity and Trust
The challenge
The technologies needed to make the internet a safer place, give citizens and businesses control over their data and enable confident participation in the digital economy are freely available today. What’s missing is an understanding of how to deploy these building blocks at scale, and a dialogue about priorities and implementation choices.
This starts with anticipating the identity and trust questions that will matter most to individuals, businesses and society in the coming years. For example: How can I know what’s real online? Can I trust AI with my personal data? Will I be tracked when I use my digital ID online? Am I more likely to trust a government-issued ID, or one issued by a regulated private company? How can I protect my business against deepfake fraud? What’s the path to greater confidence in autonomous AI agents?
