Walkabouts
Walkabout - the open air accelerator.
Monthly, free, local, global.
It began with a conversation in spring 2023. Changing working patterns since the pandemic mean most of us spend less time with other people. We wondered how to help as many people as possible to have a monthly opportunity to meet up. So we started organising Walkabouts. Now Walkabout is a powerful global grassroots innovation ecosystem.

Not in London?
Find a Walkabout near you
The Walkabout movement is spreading. From a single group in summer 2023, we are now meeting in more than 30 towns and cities in several countries.
To find a Walkabout near you, check our map and choose your nearest – and you’ll find a link to the relevant Eventbrite page to register for free. Each Walkabout also has an active WhatsApp group that you’ll find on the Eventbrite page. Also, join our “Walkabout – Worldwide” LinkedIn Group.
And if you’re looking for an icebreaker or conversation topic on a Walkabout – join us in tackling some Challenges that need multi-disciplinary collaborations.
Everyone is welcome at Walkabouts and we encourage you to bring a “plus one” – or several.
We typically walk gently for an hour and then head to a bar or pub for those that want to carry on their conversations.
Become a Walkabout host
In case you don’t live or work near one of the existing Walkabouts, we can help you set up a Walkabout in your own neighbourhood.
The commitment is small – just posting details of each month’s Walkabout and providing contact details for people to sign up and find you on the day – and then providing a warm welcome to all who join you.
Hosting a Walkabout makes a real contribution to your neighbourhood and community, and it’s easy to get started, so don’t hesitate – contact us today and we’ll help you get going.
And if you know brilliant people who would make great hosts and help fill in some of the gaps on the map – please encourage them to get in touch too!
Partners
The Royal Society of Arts (the RSA)
The Royal Society of Arts – the RSA – is a global Fellowship of 31,000 innovators, creatives, policymakers, and has been making connections and meeting curiosity for over 260 years.
We have partnered with the RSA and particularly welcome RSA Fellows both as Walkabout hosts and as Walkabouters.
If you’re a FRSA – Fellow of the RSA – you’ll find Walkabouts are like a visit to RSA House in London, but in your own neighbourhood – unless you come along to the Walkabout that starts at RSA House in London – then you’ll have the best of both!
And if you’re not an FRSA yet – Walkabouters have a special discounted introductory invitation which we share once you’re aboard in our online community platform.
The Royal Academy of Engineering
The first Walkabout in summer 2023 was dreamed up at the Royal Academy of Engineering, and engineers were early adopters both as Walkabouters and as hosts.
Now we have several Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering hosting Walkabouts around the UK, and engineers continue to be one of the best represented specialisms among Walkabouters.
We’ve partnered with the Royal Academy of Engineering to recognise and celebrate the role of engineers in innovation and connection, and to support the Academy’s innovation programmes in the UK and globally.
Collaborations
Heropreneurs
We welcome Heropreneurs mentors, mentees and friends at Walkabouts. For people making their way into private sector roles, perhaps for the first time, Walkabouts are a great opportunity to meet a wide variety of people in your local community – and for mentors and mentees to catch up in person.
GTA Future of Work
We’re delighted to have teamed up with Global Tech Advocates Future of Work. GTA Future of Work have been highlighting best practices for employers and employees since 2021, enabling them to thrive as working patterns change.
GTA FoW co-founder Zoltan Vass is a regular at the London Walkabout and hosts the St Albans Walkabout.
Air Aware Labs
We are delighted to partner with Air Aware Labs, who provide personalised health insights from air pollution data. Louise Thomas, CEO, is a regular at our Green Park walks and we use their product Air Track to understand our air pollution exposure during our walks.
